From the Maker:
The lamp represents an exercise in friendship and collaboration. It consists of two pieces: a hollow organic clay form sitting atop a wood plinth. Concealed underneath are the electronics that control the intensity of the light via a touch-sensitive brass disk. These materials and forms demonstrate how we are all of both worlds, hard exteriors with the ability to move softly, and malleable material able to be formed into structural strength.
This is the first public collaboration between ceramist Sam York and lighting engineer and woodworker Ed Kniseley, both based in Brooklyn, NY.
