This ceramic lamp art piece captures the essence of the 'Rush' poppers bottle, an icon in modern pop and queer culture. Handcrafted using clay slab construction, its design echoes the bottle's silhouette, while the pleated fabric lampshade subtly mirrors its distinctive cap. Can you feel the rush?
 
Max Chen is a Brooklyn-based ceramic artist. Through his ceramics, he builds a narrative reflecting his upbringing as a queer first-generation Asian American. His ceramics also draw inspiration from how gender and sexuality are like clay: you can build it however you want- although you may not yet know the outcome- and if it doesn't work out, you can always break it down and start over again.
