Lichen Lamp is designed digitally and 3D printed in porcelain clay using a custom-built clay printer. Once printed and dry, the vessel is then fired using traditional ceramic methods. The texture of this lamp is inspired by natural lichen formations found on rock and tree branches. When turned on, light sprouts from the concealed gaps between the texture layers.
 
Jasmine Gutbrod studies ecological processes and creates objects that play between inside and outside spaces. She uses interdisciplinary techniques and media to connect people with the natural world. Jasmine studied furniture design at Rhode Island School of Design and is currently based in Providence, RI.
