From the Maker: The criteria for this lamp was to make an assembly based on new and old stock parts in glass. A vintage milk glass shade was chosen, as the quality of hand-blown glass is hard to surpass relative to its low-cost, and the abundance of available proportions and shapes. The task then became to filter through the McMaster-Carr catalogue parts to highlight the vintage part based on functionality, proportion, and economy. The design becomes the filtering and reuse of new and old stock parts.
 
Gabriel Jewell-Vitale is an Architect living in Brooklyn, NY. He is interested in bringing a high level of quality through affordable means, whether it be prototypes, adaptive reuse projects, or ground-up construction.
