This lamp is part of a series of lighting objects I'm creating, which draw on the aesthetic of clouds illuminated by the late-afternoon sunlight. I generate the design using code and parametric modeling software, manufacture the parts using various CNC machines, and assemble and solder the lamp by hand.
Dexter Callender III is an artist and computational designer working across software, design, and human experience. He is currently a research assistant at MIT Media Lab. He uses code to create objects and media, saxophone to make music, and seeks resonance across distinct modes of expression.
